SAFEAI research project –
Autonomous driving for mobile machines
InMach Intelligente Maschinen GmbH is the coordinator of the SAFEAI project.
The ambitious project is supervised together with the efficient and innovative cooperation partners HORSCH-LEEB Applikation Systems and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, as well as being carried out with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) and also the city of Ulm.
In order to be able to drive autonomously, vehicles must recognise their environment, interpret it correctly and adapt their actions accordingly.
The vision of offering a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to conventionally operated means of transport through autonomously driving municipal vehicles in public spaces is the driving force behind the SAFEAI research project. Another focus is on agricultural vehicles, where environment recognition and geofencing are very important. Currently, work is being done in the field of field sprayers and seed drills in test operation. The challenge of ensuring functionally safe operation is the focus here.
In order to be able to test the solutions developed by InMach Intelligente Maschinen GmbH under real conditions, InMach has invested in the acquisition of a fully electric series vehicle. In the next step, this vehicle will be equipped with sensors, electronics and specially developed software solutions from InMach.
